What to consider when buying skin care products

Every skincare product is different, with different formulas and different nourishing purposes on the skin. The main goal for these products we choose is to have the best effect on our skin and to keep it healthy. Every skin is different with different complexions and the real question is, how do we know that the product we are going to buy is the best for our skin?

What are the 4 skin types?

  1. NORMAL SKIN - is considered a well-balanced skin (neither too oily nor too dry)

  2. DRY SKIN - the skin produces less oil than normal. it can look/feel rough. it requires more moisture to keep it healthy.

  3. OILY SKIN - the skin produces excessive amounts of oil. it has a glossy shine on the skin. it requires a skin balancer to keep it healthy.

  4. COMBINATION SKIN - the skin is a mix of oily and dry at the same time. the skin gets oily mostly on the T-zone and cheeks.

What are the factors when choosing skincare products?

  1. The first factor when choosing a skincare product is your SKIN TYPE and SKIN SENSITIVITY. Sensitive skin is easily irritated by various factors, such as sun exposure and high temperatures. It is usually tolerated by using products that are well-balanced for good results. For some individuals, this condition can become a permanent condition. If you have sensitive skin, look for products that are low in ingredients and don’t contain fragrances or alcohol. If you’re prone to dry skin, try an oil-free product, dry-oil product or an ointment.

  2. AGE - Our skin type can change throughout our lifetime. For people with an oily skin type, for instance, after reaching puberty, their skin can become drier and less plump. Every aging state considers different care and is suggested to look for products depending on your aging state.

  3. SKIN COLOR/TONE - each skin type reacts differently to external forces such as the sun, inflammation, irritation, and pigmentation disorders. Each skin tone requires a different treatment. (for example, sun exposure may affect fair tones a lot easier than medium and darker skin tones).

  4. LIFESTYLE and DIET - personal habits and what you eat are some of the most important factors since keeping a healthy lifestyle and diet can give you healthy-looking skin.
